HOW TO CLEAN THE PUMP FILTER/COIN TRAP OF A WASHING MACHINE
The washing machine is one of a few of home appliances that we buy for our homes that we get plenty of use from them, but some of us neglect to keep it clean.
WHAT IS NEEDED
Screwdriver - know you can see a knife, just could not find one and screwdriver is safer.
A big bath towel
A bowl - not to dip
A big bath towel
A brush
1 - REMEMBER TO turn off/ unplug the washing machine and make sure there is no hot water in the system.
2 - Using the towel tuck as much you can under the washing machine and around it in order to protect the floor, just in case there is to much water inside the washing machine.
3 - Open the door that gives access to the filter.
4 - Make sure to position the bowl in such way that when opening the emergency drain tube and the filter door the water will run into the bowl, not to the floor.
5 - Pull the end of the emergency draining tube out and let the water flow into the bowl - make sure you have the cap handy, the bowl may fill up very quickly.
NOTE - you may need to drain several bowls of water.
6 - Unscrew the debris filter cap - it may be a bit stuck and full of limescale and cotton, coins and..... very strange things.
7 - Wash the dirt and any debris from the filter - it helps if done under running water.
Mine was so bad, that I hat to scrap it with a spoon.
Nice and clean.
8 - Reinsert the emergency drain cap back to the drain tube - make sure is really tight.
9 - Replace the debris filter cap tightly, push emergency drain tube back into place and close the door trap.
Make sure to replace the debris filter and emergency drain cap after cleaning it. If they are not closed properly the washing machine may leak or otherwise malfunction.
