HOW TO KEEP YOUR SHOWER CURTAIN SPOTLESS AND CLEAN
As far as shower curtains go, some of us tend not to take much notice. Either we are half asleep in the morning or too tired in the evening to notice them. With a full house and so many showers a week, they tend to collect dirt and grime very quietly at the seams.
I’m so sorry to say and a bit embarrassed but this one it looks very bad and after removing it and putting it in the basin to give a bit of hand wash it looks even worse.
Because it is so dirty, I prewashed it first by hand with viakal and then washed it by machine. This one needs two way’s in order to get it clean, first step by hand and the second one by machine.
FIRST STAGE
BY HAND
STEP 1 - I poured a bit of viakal at the ends and let it soak for 15 minutes.
SETP 2 - I give a good scrub and added tepid water and scrub some more until I could see that I removed all the dirt and limescale off.
STEP 3 -Rinsed very well and put the shower curtain inside the washing machine.
SECOND STAGE
Step 1 - Wash on delicate program at 30c.
Step 2 - I add 20ml of vinegar to the drum + the normal amount of detergent.
Step 3 - Do not spin more them 400.
Step 4 - As soon as the machine finishes remove it from the washing machine give it a good shake and hung it to dry.
NOTE I like to wash the shower curtain together with a few hand towels, that way as the clothes go inside the washing machine the towels rub against the curtain helping losing it up the dirt but take in mind how fragile or expensive your shower curtain is, if you want to do the same.
Nice and clean and looks like new.
PS - In order to skip option 1, it will be advisable for you to keep an eye on it and wash it regularly.
