WHAT TO DO IF THE WASHING MACHINE SMELLS
Last summer I went to spend a few days with a friend of mine. I notice when I went to put my clothes to wash the machine had a very peculiar smell. She told me she had tried everything to get rid of the horrible smell.
Well if I find a problem I have to try my best to solve it.
1 Cleaned the filter of the machine - please put a big bath towel around the filter, because as soon you open it water comes out gashing very fast.
2 I removed the detergent drawer from the washing machine washed it in the dishwasher
3 Sprayed the drawer slot with vinegar and leave it soaking for a while - if is very dirty soak it in Ace
4 Sprayed the machine rubber with a lot of vinegar and let it soak for 30 minutes, after wiped with kitchen paper and removed all the dirt from it.
6 Wiped the slot drawer the best I could, replaced the drawer
DID A SOLUTION OF:
Mix ¼ a cup of bicarbonate of soda with ¼ a cup of water.
Add the solution to the machine’s detergent container.
Pour 2 cups of white vinegar into the drum
7 Run the machine at 90c
8 Once the machine was finished I clean the rubber the reason being, if water stays there it will create mould and bad smells
My friend had to keep doing this process every week for a while until the smell started to fade, Not only the smell went away the gunk around the rubber is starting to disappear
P.S. I never had that problem, do not know if the reason is because:
A wash my machine at 90c every 2 months
B Use Non Biologic powder, adding Ace to most of my washing and some times I pour 3 table spoons of vinegar to my wash
C When I go on holidays I make sure there is no water inside the washing machine
D Pour Bleach into the drains
E It is a must - the mashine has to be left open at all times
