HOW TO KEEP THE FOOD WASTE DISPOSAL CLEAN

Does this look clean to you ?

Remove the splash guard and ….not really!

My way of working sometimes seems a bit confusing because tend to do too many things at the same time but is a way of saving time.

STEP 1 - Make sure the waste disposal is turned off

STEP 2 - Remove as much fat as possible from the splash guard with a kitchen paper

STEP 3 - Spray the splash guard with white vinegar and fairy liquid, give a good scrub and rinse it.

Step 4 - Spray white vinegar and fairy liquid into the sides of the food disposer. Give a good scrub with a brush to the sides and bottom and let soak.

NOTE - please you really must rinse it with plenty of water. Mixing bleach with any other products is very dangerous

Step 5 - Using plenty of water remove from the slash guard all traces of white vinegar and fairy liquid. Fill a bowl or the second sink with hot water and pour a bit of bleach into it, put the splash guard inside and give a good scrub and let it soak

Step 6 - Go back to the waste disposer, give another scrub with the brush, spray a bit more of white vinegar, scrub and rinse with plenty of hot water.

NOTE - please you really must rinse it with plenty of water. Mixing bleach with any other products is very dangerous

STEP 7 - Pour a bit of bleach give a good scrub and rinse with plenty of water. ( Do not leave the bleach for to long. Just pour, scrub and rinse)

STEP 8 - Go back to the splash guard, give one last scrub, paying attention to the groves in the splash guard.

Step 9 - Give one last scrub to the splash guard and rinse with plenty of water.

NOTE — DO NOT TROW AWAY THE WATER with bleach, use it to soak all the cloths and sponges from around the kitchen. I a good way to remove any stains of tea or any other food stains

One last thing, in order to keep it smelling nice, I put down the waste disposer some citrus fruit.

FYI 1 - Do run the water first, at least 30 seconds before turning on the food waste disposer. 2 - Try cleaning it at least once a month. 3 - Do not overload with too much food. 4 - Avoid putting stringy things down the waste disposer. 5 - After grinding the food, do open the hot tap and let it run for a while.
