HOW MUCH HOUSE WORK CAN I DO IN 4 HOURS

I’m helping a friend out. She went on holiday’s and asked me if I could do her job for a week.

She works for this lovely family, they are very tidy and organized. The kids have to their beds, pick up everything from the floor, empty their rubbish bin and bring all their dirty clothes to the laundry room.

Let’s see what I can do in four hours.

This is an old Victorian house with 3 floors and has 4 bathrooms, 5 bedrooms.

STEP 1 - Empty the dishwasher and put the breakfast dishes inside and put it on.

STEP 2 - Mum left the washing machine on. As I was arriving, the program was finishing, so I moved the clothes to the tumble dryer.

STEP 3 - Today, is the day to change the children's sheets and towels. So I have to strip 2 single beds and 1 double bed and make them with fresh linen.

STEP 4 - Take all the linen downstairs and put another load on.

KITCHEN

STEP 1 - It was a long weekend so the cooker is a bit dirty, so I spray it with vinegar, add a bit of washing-up liquid, give a bit of a scrub and let it soak. Then I go and do something else.

STEP 2 - Clean all the kitchen worktops, ensuring no crumbs are near the toaster and clean it (empty the crumbs from the toaster tray).

STEP 3

  • Give a quick wipe to the microwave

  • Wipe the windowsill near the sink

  • Wipe the metal bin (I use kitchen paper )

  • Wipe the chairs

  • Wipe the Table

  • Wipe the cupboard handles

  • Wipe fingerprints from the fridge.

STEP 4 - Wipe the cooker clean and the backsplash

STEP 5 - Clean the sink, tap and make sure the waste disposer is clean.

  • Hoover laundry room and wash the floors ( it is a small room).

Hoover kitchen floor and wash the floors (it is not a big kitchen, 5 by 4 meters)

  • KITCHEN IS DONE

    GROUND FLOOR

    DINING ROOM

  • Wipe the dining room table

  • Hoover the fabric chairs (they have a cat )

  • Hoover the floor ( it has a few rags)

    TV ROOM

  • Puf up the cushions and sofa

  • Clean TV screen (kids like to point at things and leave behind fingerprints.

  • Hoover room

  • Hoover hallway ( is big and long and has rugs on the floor)

    CLEAN CLOAKROOM

  • Sink, taps and toilet. Cleaned the tiles around the sink and toilet and made sure they are no watermarks.

  • Wipe all the light switches on the ground floor ( they are like mirrors, so thery have plenty of fingerprints)

  • CHECK the washing machine and tumble dryer. The clothes are nearly dry but not safe to fold them.

    TOP FLOOR

STEP 1 - Clean the 2 bathrooms (one has a shower and the other has a bathtub).. Hoover floors and wash them ( they are not big and there are not many things around to move about)

Checklist: did mirrors and lights switches. Cleaned tiles around the toilets, sinks and bath.

  • Give a quick wipe to the sinks and toilet in the master bathroom and straitened up the bed linen and puff up the pillows in the master bedroom.

  • Hoover 3 bedroom (the kids did not leave anything on the floor, so very straightforward job.

  • The last thing I had to do was hoover the staircase from the top floor all the way to the ground floor.

  • Check the dishwasher (still on, 😡 this ECO program takes forever to finish). One of the boys is home studying so he will empty it later.

  • Fold the clothes that were drying on the rack ( need the space for the new ones).

  • Check the tumble dryer. Some clothes were dry, so I folded them, the other ones felt a bit damp, so I hung them on the clothes rack. (do not like to leave machines on when a leave the house.

  • ALL DONE. Just hope my friend’s boss is happy with the job.
