ABOUT ME...
This crazy idea started with me watching my son's girlfriend Beth creating her first blog while she was at University, it was called Spirit Magazine, and this past 3 years working so hard with Career Girl Daily.
On a sunny day having a relaxing drink in a nice pub, we started talking about etiquette and housework, Beth suggested I should start my own blog. Career Girl Daily just published a book and I was kind of intrigued to see if I could do it.
All the advice I’m giving here is the result of 30 years of research, hard work and a lot of mistakes on the way. I came to England from Portugal when I was 20, it was my first time away from all the support of the family. In those days you could not ring home every 5 minutes and ask for help (like I’m doing these days!), so I had to learn on the job. I worked with amazing ladies, who lived through the war so already knew so many ways to do things very quickly and efficiently.
The intention of creating this blog is to help young people that are starting their journey as independent adults, and if on the way I help older ones that's just a bonus!
After all this time I am still learning new ways to do things - how to use new products - and improving my own way of doing things. When I give advice, if you think you have a way which is better than mine - I would love to hear it.
If you are living alone, the housework is a bit easy but if you are married and have children DON'T FORGET to allocate jobs to everyone. You are sharing a house, the bills, all the headaches that go along with bringing them up, so it is your right to get help from everyone!
SIX RULES FOR SUCCESS:
1. Never do your house work when you are tired or stressed.
2. Set your self a timer to start and finish
3. Do a little every day
4. Choose one room to start
5. Have a cup of tea/coffee
6. DO NOT FORGET TO SING AS YOU GO ALONG, believe it or not, it does wonders!
